Jammu: The 12-day Shri Baba Buddha Amarnath Yatra to be held in the border Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir is likely to begin from August 17, 2026 this year. The yatra is proposed to conclude on August 28, the day of Rakshabandhan. Like every year, this time too a large number of devotees are expected to reach Baba Buddha Amarnath temple for darshan.
According to official sources, the first batch of the yatra will leave for Poonch from Bhagwati Nagar Yatri Niwas in Jammu. The district administration has intensified preparations to conduct the yatra in a safe and orderly manner.
Arrangement of special facilities for devotees
The administration is providing necessary facilities like langar, sanitation system, toilets, waterproof tents, drainage, accommodation, vehicle parking, medical services, uninterrupted electricity, drinking water and public address system for the devotees on the yatra route and in the temple premises.
Administration reviewed preparations
Poonch Deputy Commissioner Ashok Kumar Sharma had held a review meeting of the yatra preparations on July 12. During this, Sri Sri 1008 Mahamandaleshwar Swami Vishwatmanand Saraswati Ji Maharaj said that this time the shortcomings seen in the previous years will be removed and better facilities will be provided to the devotees.
The Deputy Commissioner assured that all necessary arrangements will be completed before the commencement of the Yatra.
Security arrangements will be tight
Senior Superintendent of Police Shafqat Hussain Bhat said that elaborate security arrangements will be made for the peaceful and safe conduct of the Yatra, so that the devotees do not face any inconvenience.
What is the importance of Baba Buddha Amarnath Temple?
Baba Buddha Amarnath Temple, situated at an altitude of about 4,600 feet above sea level, is situated on the banks of the Pulasta River in the Loran Valley of Poonch district. This temple is about 290 kilometers from Jammu. According to local belief, the journey to Amarnath cave is considered incomplete without the darshan of Baba Buddha Amarnath, hence this journey has special religious significance.
