Mumbai, July 16 (IANS). Shiv Sena spokesperson Sanjay Nirupam reacted to the demand for restoration of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir, censorship on OTT platforms, controversial statements about Lord Krishna and comments of comedian Kunal Kamra. Criticizing the statement of Congress leader Saifuddin Soz, he said that the question of giving any kind of special internal autonomy to Jammu and Kashmir does not arise.
On Congress leader Saifuddin Soz’s demand for internal autonomy and restoration of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir, Sanjay Nirupam said that this is a very objectionable statement. Congress should clarify whether it agrees with this statement of Saifuddin Soz. When Congress was in power, it avoided removing Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir and separatist thinking was encouraged. Now after the removal of Article 370, Jammu and Kashmir is gradually joining the mainstream of the country. It is not appropriate to demand internal autonomy at such a time. Jammu and Kashmir is an integral part of India and like other states, it also has an equal place in the country, hence the re-implementation of Article 370 or any special internal autonomy cannot be accepted there.
On the controversial statement of Maulana Jarjis Ansari, he said that Lord Shri Krishna is worshiped by Hindus and such claims about him are completely inappropriate. The existence of Lord Shri Krishna dates back to the time when Islam had not even emerged. He described such statements as hurting religious sentiments and said that misleading or controversial comments should not be made about revered personalities of any religion.
On the possible discussion of making Censor Board certification mandatory for films and web series aired on OTT platforms, Sanjay Nirupam supported the government’s move. He said that films, plays and even advertisement films shown in theaters in the country require a Censor Board certificate, but OTT platforms are still out of the scope of this system. The recent controversy that emerged regarding the film ‘Sutlej’ teaches us that films and programs coming on OTT should also be reviewed. This will help in curbing such content which is against national interest, spreads misleading information or promotes obscenity.
Sanjay Nirupam expressed a sharp reaction against comedian Kunal Kamra. He alleged that Kunal Kamra does political campaigning in the name of comedy. The Privilege Committee of the Assembly is taking action against Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde after his alleged objectionable remarks. Legal process is going on in this matter and he has to appear before the committee. If such comments continue in future also, action will be taken against them as per law.
