Sriharikota, July 18 (IANS). Hyderabad-based private company Skyroot Aerospace is launching its ‘Vikram-1’ rocket from the Satish Dhawan Space Center in Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh. This mission, named ‘Mission Aagaman’, is being considered a historic achievement in India’s space programme, as this is the first time that an orbital class rocket completely designed and manufactured by an Indian private company is being launched from Indian soil.
There is tremendous enthusiasm among the people regarding this mission. Avesh Patel, who reached Sriharikota from Hyderabad, told IANS that he has come here to encourage his city company Skyroot.
He said, “We wish Skyroot all the best for this rocket launch. Hopefully, it will be a memorable experience for all of us. More private companies will launch such missions in the coming years. Such rocket launches are extremely important in achieving the goal of ‘Developed India 2047’.”
Aerospace engineer Nishita said that this moment is very exciting for her. He said, “This is the first time a private Indian company is launching an orbital rocket. It is a historic moment. Being an aerospace engineer, it is a proud moment for me. The best part is that the opportunity to witness this historic launch is open to all, especially students. We are seeing the greatness of our country and its bright future in front of our eyes.”
A student who came to watch the launch also expressed happiness and said, “The launch of Vikram-1 in India is a matter of pride for the entire country. We all have gathered here to witness this historic moment.”
Skyroot Aerospace had launched a sub-orbital rocket named ‘Vikram-S’ in the year 2022. Whereas ‘Vikram-1’ is a multi-stage orbital rocket, which has been developed to place satellites in low earth orbit. This is being considered one of the biggest achievements of India’s private space sector so far.
