As far as I understand, he himself committed suicide by hanging himself in his wife’s school premises. The deceased has been identified as 32-year-old Manpreet Singh. Police reached the spot and took possession of the husband’s body and sent it to the civil hospital for postmortem. Initial police investigation revealed that the husband was suspicious of his wife’s character. He suspected that his wife was having illicit relations with a school teacher.
Called the police himself after committing the murder
According to the police, the wife of Manpreet Singh, resident of Jawahar Singh Wala village of Firozpur, was a mid-day meal worker in a government school. Manpreet had been suspecting for a long time that his wife was having illicit relations with a teacher teaching in a government school. Because of this there used to be frequent fights between them. The dispute between the two did not end. There was an argument between them regarding this matter. After this the argument escalated and Manpreet started beating his wife. He hit her so hard with a screwdriver and pliers that she became half dead. He also pulled his wife’s lips with pliers, due to which she got seriously injured and remained unconscious on the ground.

Manpreet thought that his wife had died, although she was still alive. He was first referred to Civil Hospital and then from here to Faridkot, where he is undergoing treatment. When Manpreet thought that his wife had died, he himself called the police and informed them about the incident. After this he went straight to the same government school where his wife was working as a mid-day meal worker. He climbed the water tank built in the school premises, tied a rope around his neck and jumped down. He died on the spot.
Doubt destroyed the family
The deceased’s nephew Bunty told that Manpreet had been suspicious about the relationship between his wife and a school teacher for a long time. Many times he tried to convince his wife to stop talking or meeting that teacher, but the dispute between the two did not end. The family says that this doubt destroyed the family. Investigating officer ASI Surjit Singh said that in the initial investigation, after a dispute between the husband and wife, the wife was beaten and then committed suicide. The woman’s body has been sent for postmortem. Statements of family members and other people are being recorded. Further legal action will be taken based on the postmortem report and other evidence.
