Airlines suspended all the flights visiting Kathmandu on Tuesday, as violent protests intensified for the second day in different parts of the country. In a post on Ax, the airlines requested the affected passengers to choose an alternative flight or refund money.
The post reads, “Given the current situation in Kathmandu, the airport has been closed for operation. As a result, all the flights coming from Kathmandu are currently postponed. If your journey is affected, you can easily choose option for alternative flight or go to our website and claim refund.” The airlines have been facing the situation soon. Coordination with local authorities is also being maintained.
The post reads, “We are keeping a close watch on the events and coordinating with local authorities to resume operations as soon as possible. Customers are advised to keep watching our official channels for the latest advice and updates. We expect the restoration of general operations and are heartbreaking to your patience and understanding.”
Prime Minister K.P. in Nepal After Oli’s resignation, these programs have been canceled in view of increasing unrest in the country after violent protests continued for the second day across the country. According to local media, Oli’s secretariat has confirmed his resignation. Earlier, four ministers resigned from the government.
On Monday, at least 19 protesters were killed and hundreds of others were injured in clashes with the police in the agitation in Kathmandu and nearby cities under the leadership of the government’s youth against the government’s corruption and social media.
The government lifted the ban late last night after violent clashes, but a few hours later, the protesters gathered in Kathmandu and resumed their protests accusing the government of corruption. According to the Himalayan Times report, the violent generation Z protesters broke the western gate of the Singh court complex on Tuesday and entered the premises.
According to the Himalayan Times, eyewitnesses reported that the crowd forcibly entered the country’s central administrative complex from the main gate. The Singh Durbar is the headquarters of various ministries and offices of the Government of Nepal. The incident occurred amid growing protests in the country.
Following the death of 19 protesters in Monday’s protest, officials have already imposed curfew in major areas of the capital. Nepal protesters set fire to the ruling party offices, Prime Minister Oli’s house and Janakpur buildings at Balkot, while violent protests in Kathmandu continued on Tuesday.
According to the Himalayan Times, the protesters gathered near the private residence of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli in Balkot demanding accountability of Monday’s deaths. The protesters set fire to the house during the protest. Meanwhile, Air India also announced to cancel several flights on the Delhi-Kathmandu road.
