New Delhi, 3 October (). Union Minister of Labor and Employment and Youth Affairs and Sports, Dr. Mansukh Mandavia on Friday highlighted India’s historical expansion in social security coverage, saying that it has increased from 19 percent to 64.3 percent in 2015 in 2025 and covers more than 94 crore citizens.
Addressing the World Social Security Forum 2025 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, he said that India’s share in the ISSA General Assembly has reached thirty, which is the highest vote share for any country.
Union Minister Mandavia wrote on the social media platform X, “We are proud to say that India has been awarded the prestigious ISSA Award 2025 for excellent achievement in social security.”
Getting the award from the Government of India, Dr. Mansukh Mandavia said, “The award is a proof of our PM Modi’s perspective and our guiding theory of Antyodaya, which empowers the last person of the row, which has shaped our journey towards the inclusive and universal social protection.”
According to a statement by the Ministry of Labor and Employment, this Trinity Award recognizes India’s extraordinary progress in social security systems globally.
The award ceremony was a major global conference of WSSF, which was attended by over 1,200 social security policy makers and professionals from 163 countries. Being the fifth recipient of the award since its inception, India has joined the leading countries around the world in the field of social security coverage.
The Union Minister, in his address, referred to the establishment of Digital Public Infrastructure in India for the last mile delivery of social security benefits in his address.
He said, “The e -ram portal is a National Digital Database, a multilingual, uninterrupted interface as a ‘one-stop solution’ connecting more than 31 crore unorganized workers with social welfare schemes.”
Dr. Mandavia also attracted attention to the National Career Service (NCS) portal. This portal is equipped with strong digital devices to bring job seekers and employers on a shared platform.
He said, “Today, NCS has a certified database of skilled workforce, which is easily available to employers around the world and integrated with e-labor. This will ensure that our skilled youth can reach global opportunities without losing their social security benefits.”
