In Sanatan Dharma, the Ekadashi falling during *Krishna Paksha* (waning phase of the moon) of Vaishakha month has special significance and is known as ‘Varuthini Ekadashi’. On this auspicious day, it is customary to worship the ‘Varaha’ (boar) incarnation of Lord Hari (Vishnu); It is believed that this act frees the devotee from his accumulated sins. In short, this fast is not just a religious ritual; It acts as a spiritual shield that increases happiness and good fortune. According to mythological scriptures, the spiritual virtue gained by observing Varuthini Ekadashi fast is equivalent to the virtue gained by performing *Kanyadan* (donating one’s daughter in marriage) or performing rigorous penance. Devotees observe the fast throughout the day with utmost devotion and fulfill their vow by breaking the fast the next day at an auspicious *muhurta* (time). When this puja is performed selflessly (*Nishkaam Bhava*), it opens the doors of *moksha* (liberation) for the devotee and brings mental clarity in his life.
Today’s Remedy: Offer yellow fruits and Tulsi (holy basil) leaves to Lord Vishnu today. Observing Ekadashi fast on Monday—and *Deepdaan* (offering lamps)—is considered extremely virtuous to ensure the happy and proper conduct of one’s life.
