In Hinduism, people create a special room for worship while building a house. During its construction, special attention is paid to the principles of Vaastu Shastra. It is believed that if the puja room is built in the right direction, the atmosphere of the house becomes positive and one gets blessings from the Gods and Goddesses. Apart from the temple, Vaastu principles should also be kept in mind during the puja. Just as the idols in the temple should be kept in the right direction, similarly while worshiping, the face of the worshiper should also be in the right direction. Let us know in which direction one should face while worshiping.
north direction
It is said that if we perform morning and evening puja regularly keeping Vaastu principles in mind, positivity prevails in the house and negative thoughts go away. According to Vastu and astrology, praying facing north is considered very beneficial. North direction is considered to be the direction of Kuber, who is considered to be the giver of wealth, prosperity and material comforts. When a devotee prays facing north, he connects with the energies associated with Kuber. This increases income and maintains peace and harmony in the house. It is believed that the energy associated with the direction a person faces while praying affects his life.
East direction
Similarly, there is another direction: East. This is the direction of the sun. Sun is considered the source of knowledge, consciousness, willpower and intelligence. Prayers done facing east awaken the inner soul. Additionally, praying facing east sharpens the intellect, increases respect in society, and helps in studies, spiritual practice and self-development. Therefore, it is considered best to face east during puja for knowledge, wisdom and self-realization.
west direction
Some people also pray facing west. It is believed that while performing puja at home, it is very auspicious if the worshiper faces west. For this, the entrance of the puja room should be in the east direction. Apart from this direction, if a person faces east while praying, one can also get very good results.
Can we pray facing south? In this context the question arises whether one should face south while worshipping? According to religious beliefs, the south direction is associated with Yama, the god of death, and is considered the direction of ancestors. It is believed that this direction is ruled by the planet Saturn, which controls discipline, action and change. Therefore, performing puja facing south is not considered auspicious and may not yield full results of the puja. The south direction is considered the direction of the ancestors, and the place of ancestors and God is considered different in the scriptures.
