The Shivalinga of Kedarnath Temple located in the Himalayan region of Uttarakhand has always been a subject of mystery for devotees and scholars due to its triangular shape. According to mythology, after the Mahabharata war, the Pandavas wanted to seek the blessings of Lord Shiva to atone for their sins. But instead of meeting them, Lord Shiva hid in the Kedar region by turning into a bull (not the form of Nandi, but a disguised form of Shiva himself). When Bhima tried to recognize him, Lord Shiva started disappearing into the earth. During this time, different parts of his body appeared at different places, which are worshiped today as Panch Kedar.
It is believed that the back part of Lord Shiva was revealed in Kedarnath Temple. For this reason, the form of Shivalinga established here is considered different from other Jyotirlingas and it is worshiped in triangular or dorsal form.

It is said that pleased with the rigorous penance and devotion of the Pandavas, Lord Shiva appeared at this place. After this incident, this place was considered very sacred and Shivalinga was established here. This is the reason why this place is still the main center of Char Dham Yatra.
