The first thing you see when you wake up in the morning signals the beginning of the day and what’s to come. Some things are considered inauspicious in astrology, Vaastu and omens and bad omens. Below are six common things that are considered inauspicious to see in the morning, along with easy ways to avoid them.
1. Seeing your shadow
If you see your shadow first thing in the morning, it is considered very inauspicious. In omens and bad omens, it is considered a sign of “one’s own shadow”, which can cause mental stress, anxiety and failure throughout the day.
Remedy: As soon as you wake up in the morning, offer water to the Sun God and chant the mantra “Om Suryay Namah” 11 times. This reduces the bad effects.
2. Broken Mirror
It is very inauspicious to see a broken mirror or see your face in it early in the morning. This is a sign of upcoming troubles, fights, loss of money or health related problems.
Remedy: Immediately remove the broken glass from the house and immerse it in a river or pond. Install a new mirror in the house and place a picture of the Sun or Goddess Lakshmi in it.
3. Dirty utensils or leftover food
It is considered inauspicious to see dirty utensils, leftover food from last night or dirty plates first thing in the morning. This is a sign of Lakshmi leaving the house and financial problems.
Remedy: Clean the kitchen before sleeping at night. As soon as you wake up in the morning, offer water to Goddess Lakshmi and chant the mantra “Om Shreem Hreem Kleem Mahalakshmyai Namah”.

Remedy: Get the stopped clock repaired or replaced immediately. At sunrise, offer water to the sun and chant the mantra “Om Adityaaya Namah”.
