Sharadiya Navratri starts on 22 September 2025. This festival begins with Ghatasthapana on the first day of Navratri. Ghatasthapana is also called Kalash Establishment, which is a tradition of calling Goddess Durga. Ghatasthapana brings positive energy to the house and Mata Rani remains in the house for nine days. After the installation of the Kalash, the idol or picture of Maa Durga is installed. Also, on the first day of Navratri, Goddess Shailputri, the first form of Maa Durga, is worshiped.
However, many things have to be taken care of while doing Ghatasthapana, otherwise Maa Durga gets angry. This time there are two auspicious times for Ghatasthapana. Let’s know about the time, method and rules at the time of Ghatasthapana.
How to install urn?
First take a urn. Add water, coins, flowers, grains, seven types of grains and barley. Then make a swastika on the Kalash and wrap Kalava. Now take a red chunari and wrap coconut in it and place it on top of the urn. Then place the mango leaf at the designated place in the temple and install the urn on it. Install a statue or picture of Maa Durgi on a post on the right side of the Kalash. Offer fruits, flowers, intact, clothes and sweets to Mata Rani. Light a lamp of desi ghee and perform aarti.
Auspicious time
According to Drik Panchang, the first Muhurta of Ghatasthapana is from 6:28 am to 8:20 pm on 22 September 2025. If for some reason you are not able to do Ghatasthapana in this Muhurta, then you can also do Ghatasthapana in Abhijeet Muhurta. This is followed by Abhijeet Muhurta of Ghatasthapana from 12:08 pm to 12:56 pm.
Important rules of Ghatasthapana
The decrease used for ghatasthapana should not be dirty or broken. Do not fill dirty water and worship material in Ghat. Do not remove the bandage for 9 days after installing Ghat. Do not touch the ghat with dirty hands. Keep the place where the Ghat has been installed and the area around it clean. If you have installed Ghat in your house, do not leave the house empty for 9 days. Worshiping Ghat regularly with Mata Durga. After 9 days, let the worship material present in the Ghat flow into a river or flowing water.
