3 new midsize SUVs will be launched in the Indian market in the coming months, which will compete with Hyundai Creta.
India’s midsize SUV segment has seen many interesting launches in the last few months. The segment has become even more competitive after the arrival of the new Tata Sierra in November. Three new SUVs are set to be launched in the coming months, including the Nissan Tekton, Tata Sierra Electric and the facelifted Honda Elevate.
Nissan will unveil its new midsize SUV Tekton on July 9. This SUV will replace the company’s old Terrano. Nissan Tekton It will be based on the same platform on which the new Renault Duster has been built and its body profile will also be largely similar. However, Nissan’s distinct identity will be seen in its exterior design.
The company has also taken inspiration from its flagship SUV Nissan Patrol in its design. The Tekton is likely to get the Duster’s 1.0-litre and 1.3-litre turbo petrol engines. With this, the option of 6-speed manual and 6-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox can be given. In addition, a hybrid version equipped with a 1.8-liter petrol engine and electric motor may be launched as early as 2027.

Tata Motors can also introduce the new Sierra EV this month. This will be a fully electric version of the new Sierra. The company has already indicated that the Sierra EV will get a new and cleaner front design, which will differentiate it from the petrol-diesel models. However, not much change will be seen in its interior and other exterior designs.
Sierra EV can be launched in Standard Range RWD, Extended Range RWD and Extended Range AWD variants. This electric SUV is expected to have multi-link rear suspension, vehicle-to-load (V2L) bi-directional charging technology and a driving range of up to 600 kilometers.
Honda may launch a facelift version of its Elevate SUV in the third quarter of this year. Changes like new front and rear bumpers, updated headlamps and taillamps, new 17-inch alloy wheels and ventilated front seats can be seen in the updated model. However, no major changes are expected in the engine and mechanical setup of Honda Elevate.
The company may retain the existing powertrain only. Competition in the Indian midsize SUV segment is set to get even more intense with the launch of the Nissan Tekton, Tata Sierra EV and the facelifted Honda Elevate. These three models are being designed keeping different customers in mind and can create new disruptions in the market in the coming months.
