Volkswagen has today launched its new premium 7-seater SUV Tayron in the Indian market. Its ex-showroom price has been fixed at Rs 46.99 lakh. The model is currently available only in the fully loaded R-Line variant and is being assembled in India only. It has now become the most premium and flagship SUV in the company’s portfolio.
The new Tayron R-Line has a 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine, which generates power of 204 PS and maximum torque of 320 Nm. It comes with a 7-speed DSG (dual-clutch) automatic gearbox, while the company’s 4MOTION all-wheel-drive system is included as standard.
This SUV is also very powerful in terms of performance. It can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 7.3 seconds, while its maximum speed is 224 km/h (electronically limited). Customers can book it through the dealership or the company’s official website with a booking amount of Rs 51,000.
Talking about dimensions, this SUV is 4,792 mm long, 1,866 mm wide and 1,665 mm high. Its wheelbase is 2,789 mm, which provides good seating space inside. If all three seats are open, it has a bootspace of 345 litres. At the same time, when the third seat is folded, the boot space increases to 850 litres, which means more luggage can be kept comfortably.
The interior has a large 15-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster. There is also an augmented reality head-up display, which projects essential driving information on the windscreen. Front seats have been provided with features like 12-way electric adjustment, ventilation, memory function, massage feature and lumbar support.
Apart from this, premium features like panoramic sunroof, 30 color ambient lighting, IQ Light HD matrix LED headlamps and 19-inch alloy wheels are also included. For safety, 9 airbags, electronic stability control, hill assist system and 14 advanced safety features under Level-2 ADAS have been provided. In the Indian market, it will compete with premium SUVs like Toyota Fortuner, MG Gloster, Skoda Kodiaq, Jeep Meridian and the soon to be launched MG Majestor.
