The BMW F 450 GS has a 420 cc parallel-twin engine which is capable of producing 48 hp of power and 43 Nm of torque.
BMW Motorrad is preparing to launch its new adventure bike F 450 GS in India. This will be a mid-capacity bike, which can be launched as early as 2026. This bike will fall in the category below F 850 GS. Its production has started at TVS Motor’s Hosur plant. If BMW keeps the pricing right and affordable, the F 450 GS will help bring the GS series to more customers.
The most special thing about this bike is its modern electronic and riding technology. The F 450 GS will have features like traction control, cornering ABS, dynamic brake control and engine brake management. In this, riders will be able to choose riding modes like Rain, Road and Enduro. Whereas Enduro Pro mode will be available only in expensive and high-end variants. It will have a 6.5-inch TFT display, which will have features like Bluetooth connectivity, navigation support, heated grips and USB-C charging port.
Talking about the design, the F 450 GS follows BMW’s signature GS design style, but an effort has been made to reduce its weight compared to the larger GS models. It will have a high and straight stance, a pointed beak-like front and X-shaped LED headlamps. Its compact size and small overall size makes it more easy and accessible even for new and less experienced riders.
The highlight of this package will be a new 420 cc parallel-twin engine with a crankpin offset of 135 degrees. This engine produces 48 hp of power and 43 Nm of torque and is mated to a 6-speed gearbox with slipper and assist clutch as standard. The option of semi-automatic clutch system will be available in this bike. Shift Assistant Pro will be standard in the GS Trophy variant, while it will be kept optional in the lower variants.
The chassis has been specially designed for this model. It has been given a brand new tubular steel frame and the weight of the bike will be around 178 kg. The responsibility of suspension has been taken over by KYB, which will have 43 mm upside-down forks at the front and monoshock suspension at the rear. In some variants, the suspension will also be adjustable, so that the ride quality can be changed as per the need.
For braking, it has been given a front brake setup of Brembo, while brake components of Bybre will be available at the rear. The company will offer the BMW F 450 GS in four variants, which include Basic, Exclusive, Sport and GS Trophy. Each variant will be offered with different additional features keeping in mind adventure riding, which will include off-road footpegs, aluminum bash plate, hand guards, improved suspension parts and special color options.
