Hyundai will bring a new localized electric car to expand its electric portfolio, which is expected to start with about Rs 10 lakh (ex-showroom).
Hyundai has announced that it will launch the A+ Segment EV in India in 2027. The new electric car will mainly compete with Tata Panch EV, currently the only offering in this segment. Between 2021 and 2024, Hyundai has launched electric cars like IONIQ 5, IONIQ 6 and IONIQ 9 worldwide worldwide. Now the company is making special models for different countries so that EV can strengthen its grip in the market.
In China, Hyundai will launch a segment of segment such as Alexio and Alalantra next year later this year. In Europe, the company is preparing to bring IonIQ 3 next year. Hyundai in India launched Creta Electric in January this year, but did not gain much popularity. Now the company will launch a new A+ segment micro-SUV in India in 2027, which is being specially designed for electric engines. It is believed that its codename is ‘He1i Ev’.
Although earlier reports stated that Hyundai would launch this model in the second half of 2026, it appears that the company has postponed it to 2027, which is probably the result of the weakened consumer demand of electric vehicles globally. This announcement was made by Hyundai CEO Jose Munoz on 2025 CEO Investor Day. According to reports, the upcoming Hyundai He1i, Hyundai Casper will be inspired by EV (in Europe called Hyundai Inster). Its design may show pixel -like lights, rear door handles on pillars and features like roof rails, although their style may be different.
Inside, a completely digital instrument cluster, ventilated front seats, wireless smartphone charger, and a large touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, this A+ segment can be the key features of the A+ segment electric car. Here too, Hyundai can use a separate design, which will suit the choice of Indian consumers.

He1i will probably be the first Hyundai car to use a local LFP cell made with exide energy. The capacity of these batteries can range from 35 to 40 kwh. Once full charge, this SUV will run more than 400 km. The Hyundai A+ segment EV may also face competition from Kia Syros EV, which is coming in early 2026.
