The Kia Syros EV is likely to get 42 kWh and 49 kWh battery pack options, with the larger battery variant expected to offer a range of over 400 km on a single charge.
Kia India is preparing to strengthen its electric lineup and may unveil the new Kia Syros EV on July 23. This will be Kia’s second locally manufactured electric car in India after the Carens Clavis EV. While the Kia Carens Clavis EV is primarily targeted at family customers, the Syros EV will focus on first-time EV buyers.
According to reports, the company can offer Syros EV with two battery pack options. It will have a front-wheel drive (FWD) setup, in which the front-mounted electric motor will power the front wheels. Talking about the design, its look will remain largely similar to the petrol and diesel Syros, but some EV-specific changes will be made to give it a distinct identity.
Closed front grille, new bumper, alloy wheels with better aerodynamic design and EV badging can be seen in the exterior. Its high roofline, boxy design and practical cabin layout are expected to remain intact as before. According to reports, a glimpse of the company’s global EV2 can be seen in the design of Kia Syros EV.

Talking about the features, it is likely to have features like dual digital display, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, connected car technology, ventilated front seats, ambient lighting, premium seat upholstery and panoramic sunroof. Features like regenerative braking, Vehicle-to-Load (V2L), Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) charging can also be available in higher variants.
For safety, it is expected to be provided with advanced safety features like 6 airbags, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), 360-degree camera, front and rear parking sensors and Level-2 ADAS. The Kia Syros EV may be based on a modified version of the K1 platform of the existing ICE model. It is likely to have 42 kWh and 49 kWh battery pack options.

Also, it will support both DC fast charging and AC home charging. The variant with a larger battery is expected to provide a range of more than 400 km on a single charge. Talking about the price, Kia can launch it between Rs 15 lakh to Rs 20 lakh (ex-showroom). In the Indian market, it will compete with the initial variants of Nexon EV, Mahindra XUV 3XO EV, MG Windsor EV and Maruti e Vitara.
