More than 4.02 lakh passenger cars were registered in India in June 2026 and during this period, Maruti Suzuki was the company that sold the most vehicles.
A total of 4,02,997 vehicles were registered on the Vahan portal in the Indian passenger vehicle market during June 2026. This is an annual increase of 27.8 percent compared to 3,15,345 units in June 2025. However, a slight decline of 1.3 percent has been recorded in registration as compared to May 2026. Despite this, companies like Maruti Suzuki, Tata Motors, Renault, Nissan and BYD have achieved excellent growth on an annual basis.
Maruti Suzuki maintained its lead with 1,68,026 units and gained 41.7 percent share of the total market. The company’s sales were down 0.5 percent compared to May, but increased by 36.3 percent compared to June 2025 and about 44,700 additional units were registered.
Tata Motors stood second with 55,303 units and 13.7 percent market share. The company has registered an impressive annual growth of 50.9 percent as compared to June last year. Mahindra stood third in the list with 54,359 units, trailing Tata by less than 1,000 units. The company’s sales increased by 17.8 percent annually, while an increase of 1.1 percent has been recorded compared to May 2026.

Hyundai remained fourth in the list with 43,991 units, although its sales declined by 6.8 percent compared to May. At the same time, Toyota made it to the top-5 with 28,648 units and registered an annual growth of 13.8 percent. Kia remained sixth with 23,029 units, but its sales declined by 9.7 percent compared to May. On the other hand, the combined sales of Skoda and Volkswagen stood at 8,043 units, which is 5.7 percent less than last year.
JSW MG Motor performed well with 6,933 units. The company’s sales increased by 20.2 percent compared to June 2025 and 12.5 percent compared to May 2026. Honda’s sales stood at over 4,800 units, while Renault registered a year-on-year growth of 49.1 percent with 3,845 units.
Nissan ranked among the best performing established brands. Thanks to strong demand for Magnite and Gravite, the company’s sales almost doubled to 2,745 units, which is 96.4 percent more than last year. The company is also going to launch the new Tekton SUV soon.
VinFast has further strengthened its presence in the Indian market with 1,398 units. Whereas BYD and Citroen have registered annual growth of 50.4 percent and 55.7 percent respectively. Jeep was last in the list, with 257 units registered. However, compared to May 2026, its sales registered an increase of 19.5 percent, whereas there was a decline on an annual basis.
