The new variant of KTM Duke 160 has features like 5-inch color TFT display, turn-by-turn navigation and incoming call notification.
KTM has strengthened the 160 Duke range in India by introducing a new variant which now features a full-colour 5-inch TFT instrument cluster. This new variant has been priced at Rs 1,78,536 (ex-showroom, Delhi), while the standard KTM 160 Duke is available for Rs 1,70,545 and comes with a 5-inch LCD display.
The new TFT display is the same unit seen on the latest KTM 390 Duke and features bonded glass for better clarity and strength. Along with this, KTM has also provided a new switch cube, which has four-way menu controls, so that the rider can easily access menus and important functions from the handlebar itself.
According to the company, its interface has been made user-friendly. The TFT display supports turn-by-turn navigation, incoming call alerts and music control when connected to a smartphone over Bluetooth via the KTM My Ride app. Navigation related information appears on the screen itself, eliminating the need for a phone mount.
Keeping safety in mind, only the facility to receive or reject calls while on the move has been provided, while outgoing calls and contact browsing remain closed. Music playback is also possible with a Bluetooth helmet headset and options like changing songs or volume control can be done from the left-side switch.
Also available via this TFT interface is a Supermoto ABS mode, in which ABS on the rear wheel can be turned off to allow controlled slides during track or Supermoto-style riding, while front ABS remains active. The rider can also customize the display to his liking, such as setting the Shift RPM and Limit RPM, after which the screen alternates between dark and KTM’s signature orange theme.
Mechanically, no changes have been made to the KTM 160 Duke. It has a 164.2 cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, fuel-injected engine, which gives power of 19 PS at 9,500 rpm and torque of 15.5 Nm at 7,500 rpm. The engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox. The bike has a split trellis frame, WP Apex USD front forks, Bionic Light wheels, 320 mm front disc and 230 mm rear disc along with standard dual-channel ABS.
