Mahindra will add 4 new cars to its electric portfolio in the coming years, which will give customers more options.
At present the number of electric cars with Mahindra is less, but it will increase significantly in the next three years. The company may launch four new electric SUVs by 2028. These vehicles will be made for people who want long-lasting, budget-friendly and powerful electric SUVs.
We’ve known for some time that Mahindra’s next two electric cars will be the XUV 3XO EV and the XEV 7e. Although the company has not revealed the launch date, it has confirmed that it will be bringing a new electric car to the domestic market in November, which we are pretty sure will be either the XUV 3XO or the XEV 7e. The second model is expected to be launched later this financial year.
True to its name, the Mahindra XUV 3XO EV will be a pure electric version of the Mahindra XUV 3XO. Positioned below the Mahindra XUV400, it will directly rival the Tata Nexon. The blanked-off upper grille area, new lower air intake and new front bumper will distinguish it from the ICE model. It is expected that Mahindra will install a 35 kWh battery pack in this model, which is expected to give us a range of more than 400 km.
Mahindra XEV 7e will be the first locally produced 7-seat electric SUV, primarily aimed at large families. It will be mechanically very similar to the Mahindra XEV 9e, but will be shaped like the conventional Mahindra XUV700. Its top configuration will offer a range of around 600 km and will include premium features like semi-active dampers, gesture-controlled tailgate, augmented reality head-up display, 12.3-inch front passenger touchscreen, 7 airbags and level 2+ advanced driver assistance system.
In 2027, Mahindra may also bring a rally-style version of the BE 6e. It will have a raised suspension, special off-road tires and additional off-road equipment. It will be built for those who like adventure outside the city. The company had shown the BE-Rall-E concept in early 2023 and its production model has also been undergoing testing since late last year.
Mahindra Thar EV may be launched in India by the second half of 2028. It will be built on the new NU_IQ modular platform, on which all types of petrol-diesel, hybrid and electric vehicles can be made. It is possible that the Thar EV will come only in a practical five-door model. Based on the Vision.T concept (a successor to the Vision Thar.E concept), this SUV could be the first Thar to be completely designed by Mahindra in-house, meaning it will look different from the old Willys Jeep-like design.
