Maruti Suzuki Dezire beats Hyundai Aura and Honda Amaze to take first place in the list of top 10 sedans in September 2025
Last month, a big difference was seen in the sales of sedan cars in India. Compact sedans were more popular among the people, while the larger sedan models struggled to maintain their foothold. The reason for this is that SUV cars remain more popular due to their more space, style and features.
Maruti Suzuki Dezire has clearly emerged as the best-selling sedan, crossing the 20,000 unit sales mark last month. Its sales have increased by 85 percent compared to last year. The popularity of Dezire is due to its value for money and good mileage. This is the reason why this car remains the choice of everyone, from personal users to taxi drivers.
After Dzire, Hyundai Aura maintained its steady pace and sold a total of 5,387 units. Its sales have increased by 21 percent compared to September 2024. Aura has been the second best selling sedan in India in recent times and its sales have increased by 1 percent on a monthly basis.

Honda Amaze saw a slight decline in sales and its domestic sales last month totaled 2,610 units, which is 7 percent less than last year. Despite a few downsides, its comfortable ride and reliable engine continue to make it a popular choice. The new generation Amaze was launched late last year, and has received good response from customers.
Volkswagen Virtus and Skoda Slavia retained their positions with sales of 1,648 and 1,339 units respectively, although both recorded marginal declines of 3 and 4 percent. Skoda will announce the prices of the Octavia RS performance sedan on October 17 and 100 units have already been sold in India.
Talking about sedan sales, Tata Tigor has registered sales of 966 units, a growth of 8 percent compared to the same period last year. Meanwhile, sales of midsize sedan cars like Hyundai Verna and Honda City declined drastically. Verna sales declined 39 percent to 725 units and City sales declined 45 percent to 496 units. In the premium segment, Toyota Camry sales grew by 8 percent at 137 units. On the other hand, sales of Maruti Suzuki Ciaz remained zero.
