JSW MG Motor India to sell over 19,000 units of Windsor EV in H1 CY2026
JSW MG Motor India has announced that the MG Windsor EV has crossed the sales mark of 75,000 units in less than two years after its launch. Not only this, more than 19,000 units of this electric crossover have been sold in the first half of the year 2026 (H1 CY2026), making it one of the best-selling electric cars in India during this period.
The impact of the increasing demand for MG’s electric cars has also been seen on the company’s total sales. The company has registered a year-on-year growth of 13 percent in H1 CY2026 compared to the same period last year. Along with Windsor EV, Comet EV, ZS EV and the company’s petrol-diesel cars have also contributed significantly to this performance.
MG says that the Windsor EV is based on the ABC concept. That is, its price is like an A-segment car, the exterior size is close to the B-segment, while the cabin space is like a C-segment car. This is why it is becoming popular among families who want an electric car with low running costs but do not want to buy a small hatchback.
MG Windsor EV can also be purchased under the Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) scheme. In this scheme, its starting price is Rs 9.99 lakh (ex-showroom), while for the battery, Rs 3.9 per kilometer has to be paid separately. The electric motor installed in it generates power of 136 PS and torque of 200 Nm.
This electric car has 38 kWh and 52.9 kWh battery pack options. The Pro variant with 38 kWh battery offers a range of 332 km and the Pro variant with 52.9 kWh battery offers a range of 449 km (claimed). The cabin has Aero Lounge seats that recline up to 135 degrees, 15.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system, flat floor, large glass area and many premium features, which make it attractive for family customers.
The company is also working on a plan to increase the local content in Windsor EV to 70 percent, which will help in reducing production costs and increasing sales. Apart from this, MG has confirmed that it will launch two new electric cars and a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) in this financial year. According to reports, the upcoming PHEV may be based on the Wuling Starlight 560 sold in the international market.
