Nissan has started testing its new affordable MPV in India and is scheduled to launch it next year.
It has been almost five years since Nissan launched its last local model in India, the Magnite, and now the company is once again preparing to bring new and high-selling models to the Indian market. It will start with a small MPV, which was recently spotted testing on the roads for the first time.
The upcoming budget B-MPV from Nissan will be based on the CMF-A platform, which has been co-developed by Renault and Nissan. The same platform is also used in Renault Triber and Nissan Magnite. The advantage of this platform is that it is lightweight, economical and modular, meaning it can be easily adjusted to different body types and engine options.
It features sloping headlamps at the rear, curved mirrors and wheel arches with SUV-like black cladding. Apart from this, smaller 14-inch wheels can also be seen in it, making it very similar to the Triber. The images reveal that Nissan will give its MPV a unique radiator grille, a different bumper and a differently designed lower air intake at the front. On the side, we can expect a new design for the 14-inch wheels and at the rear, there could be a distinctive look for the bumper and tail lamp graphics.
The interior of the Nissan MPV coming to India will be similar to the Renault Triber, but there will be some minor changes, which will include upholstery, decoration and color. It will seat seven and the third row will have two removable seats to increase the boot space. The second row seats will come with slide, tilt and fold/tumble features.
Nissan will feature LED projector headlamps with integrated LED DRL, LED front fog lamps, auto-folding ORVMs with integrated turn indicator, dual-tone alloy wheels, LED tail lamps, 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, in this upcoming MPV. Can provide features like wireless smartphone charger and cruise control. In terms of safety, front parking sensors, reverse camera, TCS, HSA and standard six airbags will be its main highlights.
It will have a 1.0-litre naturally aspirated three-cylinder petrol engine with 71 HP power and 96 Nm torque available as standard. Nissan may offer 5-speed manual and automated manual transmission options. The company is planning to launch it in February 2026 and it could be priced around Rs 5.75 lakh (ex-showroom).
