Nissan’s all-new 7-seater Gravite will be launched in early 2026 and will get two powertrain options
Nissan India has officially announced the name of its upcoming compact MPV and it has been named Gravite. This MPV will be an important part of Nissan’s product expansion strategy for the Indian market. The Nissan Gravit is built on the CMF-A platform shared with the Renault Triber.
It will be manufactured at the Oragadam plant in Tamil Nadu, where the Triber is also manufactured. This will benefit Nissan in localization and cost. While Nissan is preparing to introduce its large SUV Tecton in mid-2026, the Gravitas will be launched before that and will become Nissan’s first major offering of the year 2026.
The company has confirmed that the official launch and bookings for the Gravitas will begin in January 2026, while deliveries and retail sales are expected to begin from March 2026. Nissan Gravit will be launched in the MPV segment which is becoming popular again. It will get a 7-seater layout, which will be similar to Triber.
Its focus will be on modular seating, making it suitable for family and multi-use needs. Nissan has also given a glimpse of its different and unique exterior design in its teaser, which gives it a different identity from Triber. Talking about the front profile, the look of Gravity looks sharp and straight. It has a wide black-out facia, with a thin LED light bar spanning the entire width.
The headlamps are fitted in this dark housing. There are slight creases on the bonnet and the Gravite branding is clearly visible at the front. The design on the back side is also simple but strong. The sleek LED taillamps are joined by a dark strip bearing the Nissan logo. The roof-mounted spoiler, well-fitting rear glass and Gravite badging on the upright tailgate add to its attractive looks.
Nissan Gravit will be available in two petrol engine options, which will include a 1.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine and a 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine. Both will be offered with manual and automatic gearbox options. Price may be its biggest feature. The Gravitas is expected to be priced around the Renault Triber and its starting ex-showroom price could be under Rs 6 lakh. Along with this, Nissan also plans to rapidly expand its dealership network in India and the company aims to increase the number of its showrooms to 250 across the country, so that sales and after-sales support can be better.
