Hyundai Creta continues its dominance as the best selling SUV in the last 5 years
Hyundai Creta has achieved a historic milestone in India. The SUV has registered sales of 2 lakh units in a calendar year for the first time, which is its best annual performance till date. This means that on an average around 550 new Cretas are being sold in the country every day. Despite completing ten years and facing tough competition, Creta continues to dominate the midsize SUV segment.
This achievement is also special because currently there are many new and feature-loaded vehicles in the midsize SUV segment. Despite this, Creta not only survived but was also successful in strengthening its lead. With a segment share of over 34 percent, Creta is way ahead of all its rivals.
This year it has also been a decade since the launch of Creta in India. This model has recorded a compound annual growth rate of more than 9 percent between 2016 and 2025, which is considered a major achievement in this rapidly changing segment. Creta has been the best-selling midsize SUV every year since its launch, making it not just a successful model but a segment-defining car.

A major reason for the continued success of the Creta is its abundance of variants and options. It has 1.5-litre petrol, 1.5-litre diesel and 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine options, which can be chosen with manual, automatic, IVT and DCT gearboxes. This year, electric version has also been included in its range.
Hyundai Creta EV gets a larger battery pack of 42 kWh and 51.4 kWh. The larger 51.4 kWh battery pack claims a driving range of 510 km, while the smaller 42 kWh battery pack offers a range of 420 km on a single charge. Creta Electric gets features like panoramic sunroof, ventilated seats, eco-friendly upholstery and rear window sunshade, ADAS.
