In the next two years, three new 7-seater SUVs are going to be launched in the Indian market to compete with Mahindra XUV700 and Tata Safari.
There are currently very few options for 7-seater SUVs in India priced below Rs 20 lakh (ex-showroom). But Renault, Nissan and Hyundai are working on a new 7-seater SUV for this segment. The first of these SUVs is expected to be launched within the next year. We have given information about all three SUVs here.
1. Renault 7-seater SUV
Renault’s new 7-seater SUV for India is expected to be the Boreal, which the company introduced in July. The car is based on Dacia’s Bigster and thus is quite similar to the third generation Duster from both the European brands that is coming to India. The Renault Boreal is 4,556 mm long, 1,841 mm wide and 1,650 mm high. Its wheelbase is 2,702 mm and ground clearance is 213 mm.
The Boreal gets features like 19-inch alloy wheels, panoramic sunroof, massage driver seat, 10-inch cockpit display, 48-color ambient lighting system and 24 advanced driver assistance systems. Renault will likely launch it in India with a 1.3-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine and a hybrid powertrain based on the larger engine and its launch could take place in the fourth quarter of 2026.
2. Nissan 7-seater SUV
Nissan will launch its own version of Renault’s upcoming 3-row SUV in the first quarter of 2027. Just like it redesigned the Tecton to differentiate it from the Renault Duster, this new seven-seat SUV will also come with its own distinct exterior look. In this, headlights, grille, bumpers, alloy wheels and decorative parts – almost all the design elements will be different from the Renault model, only its basic structure will remain the same.
3. Hyundai 7-seater SUV

Hyundai is developing a new 7-seater SUV codenamed ‘Ni1i’ and plans to launch it in 2027. The Ni1i will be an entirely new and larger model that has been designed from the ground up as a three-row SUV. Its length will be around 4.7 meters, which is equal to Mahindra XUV700. This seven-seat SUV will be one of the eight new models that Hyundai plans to introduce with hybrid powertrains by March 2030.
