Renault-Nissan will launch 3 new models in the next 6 months to increase its share in the Indian market.
In the last few years, there were not many new cars in the product portfolio of Renault and Nissan in India, except for a few facelifts and CBU models, both the companies were quiet for a long time. Now after almost five years, next year Renault and Nissan are going to make a strong comeback and will launch 3 new models in the Indian market in the next six months.
On December 18, Nissan will unveil a new compact MPV specially designed and developed for India. Its starting price is likely to be around Rs 5.75 lakh to Rs 6 lakh (ex-showroom) and its sales may start in the first part of January. This Nissan MPV will be technically similar to Renault Triber and its design will also be very similar to it.
However, it will see minor changes like differently designed bumpers, new front grille, special 15-inch alloy wheels and changed headlamp and taillamp clusters. Changes to the interior will be limited and will mainly be limited to color theme, trim and display graphics. It will have a 2+3+2 seating layout as standard, while the third row seats can be removed, thereby increasing the boot space when traveling with five or less people.
After this, on January 26, Renault will introduce its first all-new car, the third generation Duster. The exterior of the new Duster will be stronger and more premium than before, which has been designed as per the preferences of Indian customers. The interior of the new generation Duster will also be completely changed compared to before and it is expected to get more premium features.
Advanced safety features like Level-2 ADAS can also be provided in the top variant. The third generation Renault Duster is likely to be launched in February with 1.0 liter and 1.3 liter turbo petrol engine options, while the hybrid version of the Duster is likely to hit the market for the first time by early 2027.
Nissan is also preparing a new SUV based on the upcoming Duster, which has been codenamed ‘Tecton’ and is likely to be launched in June. The design of Tecton is heavily inspired by the famous Nissan Patrol, which has a straight and strong look. At the front, a raised bonnet, C-shaped LED headlamps and a strong bumper are available. Viewed from the side, the doors feature a “double-C” design, while at the rear, there will be a full-width LED light bar and “Tekton” written in big letters on the tailgate. This SUV is expected to get a large touchscreen infotainment system, fully digital instrument cluster, soft-touch interior materials and advanced driver assistance system.
