In September 2025, Tata Motors, Mahindra & Mahindra and Hyundai became the second largest car manufacturer in India. Tata Motors sold 59,667 cars in India in September 2025, showing an increase of 45 per cent compared to the 41,063 units sold in the same month last year. According to the record, Mahindra & Mahindra sold 56,233 units and Hyundai has sold 51,547 units. Although both rivals exported 2,481 and 18,800 units respectively, Tata Motors sent only 1,240 cars to international markets.
In September last year, Tata Motors sold a total of 41,313 cars, out of which 41,063 were sold in the domestic market and 250 in the foreign market. Thus, its international sales were only 0.6 percent of the total sales. In September this year, the company’s exports stood at 2 per cent of the total sales and reached a new record level of 60,907 units. Compared to September 2024, the company has increased the sales of passenger cars by 19,594 units (ie 47%). This includes both domestic sales and exports.
Tata Motors sold a total of 1,40,189 cars in India in the third quarter of 2025 (July-September 2025), 8 per cent higher than the third quarter of 2024 (1,29,930 units) of 2024. During this period, there was a huge increase in exports by 411 per cent, which increased from only 823 units to 4,208 units. C, including domestic and export volume, the company sold 1,44,397 cars in the third quarter of 2025, 10 per cent higher than the third quarter (1,30,753 units) of 2024.

Nexon was the most popular car of Tata Motors in September 2025. The company has sold 22,500 units of this compact SUV last month, which is the highest sales of any car so far in any one month. Electric cars were also very much demanded last month. Sales of electric vehicles, including export markets, have increased by 96 per cent year-on-year, reaching 9,191 units (September 2024: 4,680 units).
Sales of electric vehicles reached 24,855 units in the third quarter of 2025, establishing a new standard and recorded a year-on-year growth of 59 per cent (the third quarter of 2024: 15,642 units). In the third quarter of 2025, the sale of CNG vehicles reached the highest level ever and thus sold a total of 17,800 units. This is a 105 percent increase compared to last year.
Thanks to GST cuts and the beginning of the extreme time of the festive season, Tata Motors’s booking pipeline is strong. In addition, with new major launchs such as the new Tata Panch (facelift) and the petrol variants of the Harrier and Safari, the October-December quarter is expected to be even better.
