Tata Motors is preparing to launch new electric cars to expand its portfolio.
Tata Motors is India’s largest electric car manufacturer and the main reason for this is the company’s wide EV lineup, which covers multiple segments. Tata Motors will launch two new electric SUVs by the end of this year, while a new premium EV brand may also be launched.
Tata Motors may launch the new Tata Sierra.ev between July and September 2026. It will be an electric midsize SUV based on the new Tata Sierra introduced last year, which will be positioned below the Harrier.ev. The company has partially shown the exterior of the Sierra.ev and its silhouette will remain similar to the ICE model. However, some changes will be seen in the front design.
It will have a body-color faux grille, a sleeker front nose and thick full-width LED DRL. While the new Sierra gets gloss black panels at the top of the front, the Sierra.ev will have them placed at the bottom. The side profile will remain almost the same and there will not be much change in the rear design and interior.
However, Tata can give it EV special features like new software, technology like frunk (front storage) and bi-directional charging. The Sierra.ev can be launched in single-motor RWD and dual-motor AWD options. Its driving range can be up to about 600 kilometers. It is expected to get multi-link rear suspension compared to the regular Sierra.
After this, Tata Motors can launch Safari.ev in October 2026. This will be the electric version of Safari SUV. Some minor changes in the design like closed grille, new air intake and more aerodynamic 19-inch alloy wheels can be seen. The interior of Safari.ev will be almost similar to the existing Safari, but it may get features like new software, front and bi-directional charging.

The Safari.ev can also be offered in single-motor RWD and dual-motor AWD options. In its RWD variant, 65 kWh LFP battery can be found as standard, while 75 kWh battery can be offered as an option. The AWD variant is likely to get a larger battery as standard. Once charged, this electric SUV can run for about 600 kilometers. For better ride quality, it can be provided with multi-link rear suspension and frequency-dependent dampers.
Apart from this, Tata Motors may introduce the first model of its new premium EV brand Avinya in December 2026. The Avinya brand cars will not have Tata badges and will be developed on a completely new platform. The first Avinya model could be a low-slung C-segment sportback, which will be inspired by the Avinya concept.
