Equipped with 500+ Nm torque and Quad Wheel Drive (QWD) system, it has become the first Indian electric SUV to overcome one of the toughest sand climbs in the world
Tata Motors is going to launch Sierra EV in the Indian market on June 30 and before the launch the company has released a new teaser. In this, this electric SUV is seen climbing the famous sand dune named Tal Moreeb of UAE. This video not only shows its off-road capabilities, but also gives a glimpse of many new features of the Sierra EV and the production model.
Tata Sierra EV will be given different Terrain Modes like Harrier EV. While driving on sand, Sand Mode has been selected, which makes it clear that this SUV will come with drive modes according to different roads. Apart from this, Boost Mode will also be available in it. When the SUV climbs a high sand dune, “Boost Mode Activated” appears on the screen. That means, if needed, this feature will give more power and torque for some time.
This will make it easier to drive in conditions like deep sand, steep climbs and overtaking. Along with this, dual-motor Quad Wheel Drive (QWD) system will also be available. The video shows a range of 424 km with 80% battery on the instrument cluster. In this way, when the battery is fully charged, the range of Sierra EV will be more than 500 km. However, Tata Motors has not announced its official range yet.
The video also shows how power is being distributed between the front and rear motors, confirming the dual-motor AWD system. Gloss black body cladding of Sierra EV is seen in the video. At the same time, the design of the steering wheel is like Sierra ICE and it does not have the new Tata.ev logo, but the normal Tata logo.
Apart from this, alloy wheels and Head-Up Display (HUD) of Sierra ICE are also seen in it. It seems that ICE and EV models will have many things in common. With its long range, powerful dual-motor setup, Quad Wheel Drive, Terrain Modes and many advanced features, it can become Tata’s premium midsize electric SUV.
The cabin features a large center touchscreen, which looks similar to the 12.3-inch unit found in the ICE Sierra. Apart from this, it will get many premium features like digital instrument cluster, connected car technology, separate display for front passenger, dual-zone climate control, panoramic sunroof, powered front seats, powered tailgate, JBL audio system, Dolby Atmos sound and level-2 ADAS for safety.
