Tata Motors ranks first among top 10 electric vehicle brands in February 2026 with sales of 5,558 units
In the electric passenger vehicle segment, total sales of 13,669 units were recorded last month, whereas in February 2025 this figure was 9,479 units. In this way the market has increased by 44 percent on an annual basis. Due to the launch of new cars and increasing interest of customers, the penetration of electric vehicles has increased in different categories.
In February 2026, Tata Motors once again stood at the first position. The company registered registration of 5,558 electric cars, whereas in the same month last year this figure was 4,002 units, which gave the company a growth of 39 percent on an annual basis. Nexon EV and Punch EV lead Tata’s sales, recently Punch EV has also received an update.
In second place was MG Motor India, which sold 3,310 units in February. However, this figure was slightly less than 3,489 units in February last year and registered a decline of 5 percent. Despite this, MG continues to be a major contributor to total EV sales due to strong demand for the Windsor EV.

Mahindra & Mahindra showed great growth this time. The company sold 2,913 units in February 2026, whereas in the same month last year this figure was only 508 units. In this way, a huge increase of 473 percent was recorded on annual basis. The credit for this goes to the company’s born-electric range XEV 9e, XEV 9s and BE 6.
New company Vinfast also entered the market and recorded sales of 384 units, which was helped by VF6 and VF7 models. At fifth position was BYD India, which sold 306 units and registered a growth of 10 percent year-on-year. At the same time, Hyundai Motor India’s sales declined from 775 units to 304 units, a decline of 61 percent.
Kia India showed tremendous growth as the company sold 295 units as compared to only 22 units in the same period last year, which is a growth of 1,241 percent year-on-year. In the premium segment, BMW India sold 245 units, which is 3 percent more than last year. Maruti Suzuki recorded sales of 214 units, Mercedes-Benz India recorded sales of 65 units and Volvo Car India recorded sales of 25 units. Whereas luxury companies like Porsche India and Rolls-Royce Motor Cars sold three units each.
