Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) has unveiled its popular adventure-style maxi-scooter ADV160. With this unveiling, this powerful scooter has come very close to hitting the Indian roads. The most important thing is that ADV160 is going to be India’s first scooter which can run on E85 fuel i.e. fuel with 85 percent ethanol. Honda has introduced it under its new ‘Made-in-India’ portfolio. The company will manufacture it in India only and will export it abroad also. For Indian customers, it will be sold from both Redwing and Bigwing dealerships.

India’s first E85 ready scooter
The biggest feature of this scooter is its E85 compatible engine. It has a 157cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine. It generates power of 16.3bhp and torque of 14.9Nm. Unlike regular petrol scooters, this engine can run smoothly on a mixture of 85 percent ethanol and 15 percent petrol. This step of Honda is considered quite big as per the future needs.
Adventure and cool look
Visually, this scooter seems inspired by Honda’s big X-ADV crossover car/bike. It has a muscular body, adjustable windscreen and twin LED headlights. Its block-pattern tyres, upright seating position and high ground clearance give it a true adventure look. The company has named it “City Adventure”. This means that you can use it for daily commute to office and can also take it on bad roads or long trips on weekends.
Hi-tech and useful features
In terms of features, Honda has left no stone unturned in this maxi-scooter. It has a full-color TFT display, which connects to the smartphone through Honda RoadSync. This allows the rider to navigate and view calls while on the go. Apart from this, there is car-like traction control (HSTC), single-channel ABS, USB charging socket and a large under-seat storage of 27 litres, which can comfortably fit a full-face helmet.
Awaiting launch and price
To make riding comfortable, it has been provided with telescopic forks at the front and twin shock absorbers at the rear. Its weight is 133 kg, seat height is 780mm and ground clearance is 165mm. It has a fuel tank of 8.1 litres. However, Honda has not yet revealed its official launch date and price. Since it is made in India itself, it is expected that the company will keep it in such quantity that it can easily fit in the budget of the customers.
