Maruti Suzuki ranked first in the list of top 10 car brands in April 2026 with sales of 1,87,704 units.
In the first month of the new financial year, most of the car companies in the country have registered year-on-year growth in the domestic market. There was no change in the top position and Maruti Suzuki once again took the first position by a huge margin, while Renault recorded the highest percentage growth.
Maruti Suzuki continued to dominate in April 2026 with sales of 1,87,704 units. This figure is an increase of 35 percent year-on-year and 10.8 percent more than the 1,69,428 units of March 2026. The major reason for this increase was the reduction in GST on small cars, which especially increased the demand for hatchbacks and entry-level SUVs.
Tata Motors was in second place, with domestic sales of 59,000 units in April 2026, which is 30.5 percent more than last year. However, it registered a decline of 11.9 percent as compared to 66,971 units in March 2026. Mahindra stood third in the list, selling 56,331 units. This is 8 percent more than last year, but 6.5 percent less than the 60,272 units of March 2026. Despite this, Mahindra’s SUV range remains strong.
Hyundai stood at fourth position, which sold 51,902 units. This is an increase of 17 percent year-on-year and is the highest April sales record ever for the company. Hyundai Venue has played a key role in this with record sales of 12,420 units. In fifth place was Toyota, which sold 30,159 units, a year-on-year increase of 21 percent, although a decline of 14.1 percent compared to March.
Toyota Innova HyCross has achieved a big achievement for the company by crossing the total sales mark of 2 lakh units. Kia India was in sixth place, which sold 27,286 units and registered a growth of 16 percent. Both Kia Seltos and Kia Sonet have achieved sales of more than 10,000 units.
MG Motor India has registered a slight growth of 3 percent with 6,018 units. At the same time, Renault has achieved the highest annual growth of 108 percent with 5,413 units, in which the updated model of Triber has made a major contribution. Nissan India has registered a growth of 45.5 percent with sales of 3,203 units. This month was challenging for Honda Cars India. The company’s sales declined from 7,585 units in March 2026 to 4,069 units in April, although there was a growth of 21 percent year-on-year.
