Norton Atlas and Atlas GT are powered by a 585 cc parallel-twin engine, which produces 69 bhp of maximum power at 9,300 rpm and 57.5 Nm of peak torque at 7,300 rpm.
Norton Motorcycles has officially started production of its new Atlas adventure motorcycle in India. The company’s first Norton Atlas has been rolled out from TVS Motor Company’s Hosur plant in Tamil Nadu, India. This model will be launched globally next month, while its sales are expected to start in the third quarter (Q3).
On this occasion, a special function was organized at Hosur Plant, in which Dr. Sutapa Choudhary, British Deputy High Commissioner of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Kerala was also present. Norton Atlas is designed and engineered in the UK, while being produced at TVS Motor’s state-of-the-art manufacturing plant.
The new Norton Atlas is a very important model for the company as through this the brand is making a comeback in the adventure and sport-touring segment. An Atlas GT version will also be offered along with the Atlas. Both models have been developed for markets around the world and are an important part of Norton’s global expansion strategy. The model is part of the new Manx and Atlas family presented at EICMA 2025.
Technically, the Norton Atlas is powered by a new 585cc liquid-cooled parallel-twin engine, which produces 69 bhp of maximum power at 9,300 rpm and 57.5 Nm of peak torque at 7,300 rpm. It uses a 270-degree firing order. Norton Atlas has a 6-speed gearbox. Along with this, the company has also included bi-directional quickshifter and assist-and-slipper clutch, which makes gear shifting more smooth. According to the company, its mileage is 23 km/litre, while the service interval has been kept at 10,000 km.
This engine is based on a mild steel trellis frame. The bike gets modern features like Bosch’s 6-axis IMU, cornering-sensitive electronics, 5 riding modes, fully adjustable KYB suspension, cornering cruise control, 8-inch TFT display and Norton Rider app connectivity. Atlas is designed for adventure riding and has a 19-inch front wheel. Whereas Atlas GT will get both 17-inch wheels, which make it suitable for better performance on the road. Norton says that both these bikes offer a good blend of new technology and the old heritage of British motorcycles.
