Tehran, March 3 (). Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi on Tuesday reacted strongly to the words of US Secretary of State Marco Rubio. He said that there was never any threat from Iran. He blamed Israel for the bloodshed of citizens of both America and Iran.
US Secretary of State Rubio said on Monday that the US attacked Iran after it learned that its ally Israel was preparing to take action and there was concern that Tehran would retaliate against US forces in the region.
Rubio told reporters, “We knew Israel was going to take action. We also knew it could lead to an attack on American forces. If we had not taken action first, we would have suffered greater losses.”
On Rubio’s statement, Iranian Foreign Minister Seyyed Araghchi posted on Twitter, “Mr. Rubio acknowledged what we all knew. America has fought the war on behalf of Israel of its own free will. There was never any threat from Iran.”
He blamed Israel for the deaths on both sides. The Iranian Foreign Minister further said, “It is Israel’s job to shed both American and Iranian blood in this manner. The American people deserve better than this.”
Earlier, US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth had said that Israel had carried out the attack in Tehran on Saturday, in which Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and other senior officials were killed. Intelligence had revealed that Khamenei was in a meeting at that time.
Rubio also said that regardless of the course of events, President Donald Trump’s administration believed action against Iran was necessary.
He clarified that the US would prefer to see the end of the Khamenei establishment, but that is not the stated objective of the current military campaign.
