New Delhi, . In view of the ongoing crisis in the Middle East, India’s national carrier Air India on Tuesday carried out a special operation to bring back 149 stranded passengers from Dubai.
According to the airline, flight AI916D landed safely at Delhi airport at 10:58 am (IST). The aircraft, with registration number VT-EDC, was carrying a total of 149 passengers, who were stranded in Dubai due to the prevailing conditions in the region.
This is the first flight operated by an Indian airline to repatriate passengers during the current crisis in the Middle East.
Air India said in a statement that flight AI916D, which was carrying 149 stranded passengers to Dubai, landed in Delhi at 10:58 pm IST. These passengers were welcomed at the airport.
Air India said its operations control center and support teams are working round the clock to make these flights possible under extraordinary circumstances.
The airline ensured close coordination with all concerned authorities to ensure smooth running of operations.
Air India expressed its gratitude to the Government of India, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation and the local authorities of Dubai for their cooperation and support in ensuring the safe return of passengers and crew members.
Air India said that the safety of passengers and crew is its top priority. The airline further said that it is closely monitoring the situation and is in constant touch with Dubai Airports and other relevant authorities to operate more flights as soon as necessary approvals are received.
