Jaipur (Amer). A massive fire broke out in a plywood warehouse in Rai Ki Kothi area on Delhi Road, Amer late on Thursday night. The fire, which broke out around 12:40 in the night, took a huge form within no time, causing panic in the area. Clouds of smoke and high flames were visible far into the sky.
As soon as the information was received, Amer police and fire department teams swung into action. Considering the seriousness of the fire, about two dozen fire vehicles were deployed. The firefighters completely brought the fire under control after about one and a half hours of hard work. However, by the time the fire was extinguished, most of the valuable plywood and other items kept in the warehouse were reduced to ashes. According to local resident Mohan, the electrical wires passing over the warehouse were sparking since Wednesday night, which is believed to be the main reason for the fire. His wife was the first to see the flames, after which people were gathered by raising noise. Initially, the local people tried to extinguish the fire with buckets, but the fire was so terrible that it was impossible to control it without fire brigade.
It is a matter of relief that no one was present inside the warehouse at the time of the incident, due to which loss of life was averted. If the fire had reached the nearby residential rooms, a major accident could have occurred. At present, police and administration are present at the spot and a detailed investigation of the matter is being done along with assessment of the damage.
