Washington, July 28 (). US President Donald Trump said on Monday that his administration is rapidly rebuilding America’s weapons stockpile. He said that the weapons stockpile had decreased due to large-scale military aid given to Ukraine during the tenure of former President Joe Biden, but he also said that America is fully prepared for any future conflict.
Speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One en route to Michigan, Trump dismissed concerns that the US could run out of ammunition if a major conflict erupts, particularly in the Middle East.
When asked if he was concerned about depleting weapons stockpiles, Trump said, “No, we have money. We have a lot of ammunition. All kinds of ammunition.”
He acknowledged that the United States has given large amounts of military goods to Ukraine, but said that his administration is now rapidly replenishing these stockpiles.
Trump said, “You know, Biden gave a lot to Ukraine. So we are increasing it again, but we have a lot. We also have a lot of intermediate weapons. I mean, so many that we have more than we can use in any situation.”
The President compared the current situation with his first term, saying that at that time he had taken over very low ammunition stocks from the Obama administration and later increased the production.
“When I left office, the stockpiles were completely full. When I came here after Obama, they didn’t buy ammunition. We had very little. And I increased it,” Trump said.
“Now, immediately after I left, they gave a huge chunk of it to Ukraine. I mean, huge amounts of it that’s never been seen before,” he said.
Trump said that his administration is working extensively to strengthen the American defense industry and many new production centers are being built. We are expanding it very fast. Factories are being built. A lot of equipment is being made. Especially Patriot missiles are being produced. Each of our contractors is currently building four to five factories.
The President said that America’s military posture remains strong despite the need to replenish the stockpile of some modern weapons. We are in a very good position. But for some of the more modern weapons we would definitely like to have more. Biden gave away a lot of these.
