Test matches usually last for five days, but in the Mullanpur Test, India defeated Afghanistan on the third day itself. Team India won the match by an innings and 300 runs – their biggest win in Test history. However, seven players including Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rishabh Pant have been suddenly dropped from the team. Why has BCCI taken this decision?
**These 7 players are out**
The reason for this is that after the Test match, there is to be an ODI series between India and Afghanistan. When BCCI announced the teams for both formats, some players were selected for both Test and ODI teams, while some were selected for only one team. As a result, players like Rishabh Pant, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Mohammed Siraj, Manav Suthar, Sai Sudarshan and Devdutt Padikkal were part of the Test team but will not play in the ODI series. Mohammed Siraj’s omission from the ODI series is particularly surprising as he was a key part of the Indian team that won the Champions Trophy a year ago.
**When will the ODI series start?**
Afghanistan team’s tour of India started on 6 June. After the end of the Test matches, the three-match ODI series is scheduled to start from June 13. The first ODI will be played in Dharamshala on June 13, followed by the second match in Lucknow. The last match of the series will be played on June 20 in Chennai.
**India’s ODI team:** Shubman Gill (captain), Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Shreyas Iyer (vice-captain), KL Rahul (wicketkeeper), Ishan Kishan (wicketkeeper), Hardik Pandya, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Washington Sundar, Kuldeep Yadav, Arshdeep Singh, Prasidh Krishna, Prince Yadav, Gurnoor Brar, Harsh Dubey.
