As the war dragged on, its losses became increasingly severe, with more than 58,000 American soldiers losing their lives. While the whole world was well aware of the Vietnam War, there was another conflict going on in Laos at the same time. The US launched vigorous bombing campaigns and conducted several covert operations to prevent the communist organization ‘Pathet Lao’ from taking over power. Despite all these efforts, ultimately the Pathet Lao were victorious, and America was unable to succeed in its objective. This conflict is often called the “Secret War”.
