Samastipur, November 8 (). The administration has taken strict action after VVPAT slips were found on the roadside in Samastipur district of Bihar. After the FIR in the case, suspension action is being taken against the negligent officers.
There was panic in the Samastipur district administration when information was received that thousands of VVPAT slips were lying in the garbage heap in Gudma village of Sarayaranjan assembly constituency. District administration teams immediately reached the spot. District Election Officer-cum-District Officer and Superintendent of Police of Samastipur also reached the spot and inspected. Assembly candidates were also called to the spot.
After this, the administrative team took possession of the VVPAT slips and started further action.
District Magistrate Roshan Kushwaha said that information was received that VVPAT slips were found in the garbage heap in Sarairanjan police station area. He said that this is a technical matter and everything will become clear after investigation.
He also said that a mock poll is also conducted during the commissioning. There is a mock poll of one thousand on about 5 percent of the machines, in which even at the time of commissioning of the candidates, the symbol is checked by pressing every button.
Samastipur SP issued a statement saying, “On Saturday, the matter of finding some cut and uncut election related slips from the garbage heap in village-Gudma under Sarayaranjan police station came to light. All the slips were confiscated in the presence of candidates from different parties. This place is about 500 meters away from the dispatch center located at Sarayaranjan assembly.”
He further said, “In connection with this incident, an FIR has been registered at Sarayaranjan police station and necessary action is being taken. The personnel found negligent are being suspended by the district administration.”
