Jaipur. Leader of Opposition in Rajasthan Assembly, Tikaram Julie, has made a scathing attack on the BJP government of the state, saying that due to the government’s anti-democracy and anti-constitution stance, Panchayati Raj elections have not been held in the state on time. He alleged that BJP is running away from facing the public due to fear of defeat, the consequences of which are being borne by the common people of rural areas today. Due to lack of elections and lack of funds to the Panchayats, the cleanliness system of the villages has completely broken down and the villages have turned into heaps of filth.
Murder of democracy for the seat of power
Julie said that Chief Minister, today the villages of the state are struggling with filth, sewer water and bad roads, because your government is running away from facing the public due to the fear of defeat in the Panchayat Raj elections. Stories of failure and corruption of your government are being heard openly in every village. The situation is such that your government no longer even has the courage to go among the public. The BJP government has nothing to do with rural development, it is only worried about saving its seat of power.
Hollow slogan of Swachh Bharat and ground reality
The Leader of Opposition took a dig at Prime Minister Modi’s ‘Clean India Campaign’ and said that the Central Government had given the slogan of cleanliness with great fanfare, but its reality in the villages of Rajasthan is horrifying. BJP ministers are busy day in and day out with brooms in their hands, getting photographed and doing political campaigning, while the drains in the villages are blocked and the sanitation system is in full swing. He said that by wasting public money and turning villages into filth, this government has made it clear that its priority is not development but corruption and false political propaganda.
Instead of development, the government is busy in making excuses.
Julie warned that the government should stop weakening the constitutional institutions and hold Panchayati Raj elections immediately. The government is still entangled in the web of excuses and procedure to avoid public anger. He said that due to lack of funds, development work in rural areas has come to a standstill, due to which the life of the common citizen has become difficult. The Congress party will fight this people’s battle from the streets to the House and will expose the anti-people face of the BJP.
