In a village in Shikarpur police station area, a brother-in-law tried to rape his sister-in-law. However, the woman somehow escaped and saved her honour. He lodged a complaint at Shikarpur police station.

The woman told that her husband works abroad. He lives at home with his younger daughter. His married brother-in-law also lives there. Meanwhile, his wife is at her parents’ house, and he continues to harass her.

She told the police that she thought his harassing her was a joke, but one night, he suddenly called her on the pretext of giving her sweets for his daughter.

She told that when she went into the room, her brother-in-law immediately closed the door and tried to rape her. She somehow escaped and saved her honour. Station House Officer Avnish Kumar said that the complaint has been received and investigation is underway.

Additional District Sessions Judge II and Food Safety Standards Act special judge Vikas Singh have sentenced Amit Pandit alias Amit Kumar Pandit, a resident of Raghunathpur village under Ramgarhwa police station of East Champaran, to life imprisonment and also imposed a fine of Rs 25,000 in a case of slitting the throat of the victim with a knife after failing to rape.

Additional Public Prosecutor Sheela Mishra said that the accused in this case is a resident of a village under Chanpatia police station. The accused is a relative of the victim. On January 22, 2022, the accused went to the victim’s house. Late at night he secretly entered the room of the accused’s daughter and tried to rape her.

When the victim protested, he slit her throat with a knife. The accused ran away when the victim screamed. The family took the victim to the hospital. Seeing his serious condition, the doctors referred him to Patna.

The victim was treated for several days in a hospital in Motihari. The judge gave this decision after hearing both the sides.
