– Instructions for technical planning and continuous monitoring of water conservation works.
Jaipur. A meeting was held with officials of Rajasthan River Basin and Water Resources Planning Authority and Water Resources on Friday at the Government Secretariat under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary V. Srinivas. In this, the progress of development works of 16 river basins of the state was reviewed. In the meeting, Additional Chief Secretary of Water Resources Department and Commissioner of the Authority Abhay Kumar informed about the works and progress. Chief Engineer of the authority Raj Pal Singh gave detailed information about the works.
The Chief Secretary described the role of Rajasthan River Basin and Water Resources Planning Authority in assessing water availability and its proper utilization as very important. Considering the importance of the authority in the state, he directed to prepare basin-wise plans for the overall development of 16 river basins. He also directed to make a plan to ensure water supply from other areas in water-scarce areas.
The Chief Secretary said that long-term water security in the state can be ensured only through coordinated efforts in the field of water conservation and management. He said that it is necessary to ensure balanced and scientific use of water resources. For this, water availability and demand should be accurately assessed. Water conservation should be transformed into a mass movement and maximum use of technology should be made for effective monitoring of schemes. He said that most of the population of the state is dependent on agriculture. In such a situation, farmers should have sufficient water available for irrigation.
In the meeting, a presentation related to the guidelines and development of the River Basin Master Plan was given by the Central Water Commission, New Delhi. Various aspects related to the implementation of the Reservation Master Plan were also discussed. A detailed presentation based on the progress was presented by Rajasthan River Basin and Water Resources Planning Authority, Jaipur.
The Chief Secretary gave instructions to make technical planning, monitoring, mobile app based tracking and survey of water conservation works effective under MJSA 2.1 and 2.2. He also reviewed and gave instructions on the progress of works related to water conservation under Rajasthan Rivers Rejuvenation Project, Jal Shakti Abhiyan, Jal Sanchay Jan Bhagidari, Vande Ganga Water Conservation Mass Campaign, Karmabhoomi to Matribhoomi Program and Vikas Bharat Ji-Ram Ji Act. He gave instructions to speed up the groundwater recharge works under the District Recharge Scheme, adopt innovations in water conservation, give priority to the development works of rivers and ensure the repair work of Indira Gandhi Canal and water availability. Officials of all the districts connected through video conferencing.
