Lucknow, July 6 (). Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, in a letter addressed to the people of the state, has described sports as the new identity of developed Uttar Pradesh and has appealed to the youth to make sports an integral part of life and to the parents to encourage the sports talent of their children.
He wrote in his letter that the playground is making us proud. In the 65th National Interstate Senior Athletics Championship, the men’s team of Uttar Pradesh became champion for the first time by winning 20 medals. Just before this, the inclusion of five players from UP in the Indian team that won the gold in Men’s Under-18 Hockey Asia Cup in Japan was also a matter of pride for the state. Only the one who plays blossoms.
He further wrote that the land of Uttar Pradesh is now known for its sons and daughters like Deepti Sharma (cricketer), Praveen Kumar (Paralympic high jump) and Anu Rani (javelin throw). When the talent of visually impaired runner Simast Sharma was recognized and she was given training in Lucknow, she started running for the country. Grandmaster Vatika Agarwal lays the chessboard for the country.
The Chief Minister wrote that champions are not made in a day and sports culture is also not made overnight. Along with increasing the skill upgradation, training and facilities of players in the state, sports policies were also changed. Various competitions are now not only sports for the youth of UP but also a medium to reach platforms like Olympics. The state government is providing government jobs to the outstanding performing players for their respect and secure future.
He said that today sports grounds are being developed in every gram panchayat, mini stadiums in blocks and modern stadiums in every district. Major Dhyan Chand Sports University is ready in Meerut. Sports colleges and excellence centers will be established in every division, where players will get world-class training, modern facilities and guidance from experts.
CM appealed and said that I would like to make a special request to the parents to never suppress the sports talent of their children. Sports not only gives medals, but also becomes the most powerful shield to keep children and youth away from evils like drugs. Health, cooperation, participation, respect, struggle, dedication, discipline, positivity, harmony and success, the combination of all these is sports.
He further said that children and youth should make sports an integral part of their daily routine. For the youth, sports is also a medium to realize their dreams in all careers. Sportsmanship develops the ability to take everyone along and resolve to perform better next time. This becomes the basis of success in life and paves the way for building a developed state.
