Dausa. On the occasion of International Women’s Day, grand sports competitions were organized at Anand Sharma Government Girls Higher Secondary School and Sant Sunder Das Government Women’s College. Girls students participated enthusiastically in these competitions organized in collaboration with ‘My Bharat’ unit of Sports Authority of India (SAI), NSS and Women’s Cell.
Race competition: Winners hoisted the flag. Tough competition was seen in the race competitions organized to promote the physical and mental development of the girl students: 100 meter race: Guddi Prajapat got first position, Priya Saini got second position and Sonia Meena got third position.
200 meter race: Savitri Kumari Meena stood first, while Priyanka Meena and Meena Kumari Meena stood second and third respectively.
400 meter race: Kalpana Meena won gold (first), Nisha Kumari Mahawar won silver (second) and Kavita Kumari Bairwa showed enthusiasm like bronze (third).
Tug of War: The team of Khushi, Jyoti, Shivani, Chandni and Meena Kumari won the tug of war competition full of entertainment and team spirit.
Made aware about legal rights: Chief guest of the program, Principal of Nangal College, Dr. Rajendra Gurjar gave the message to the girl students to be aware of their rights and not limited to sports only. He shared information on important legal aspects:
Sexual Harassment at Workplace Act: Explained the nuances of laws related to women’s safety.
Domestic Violence Act 2005: Made the girl students aware about the protection and justice process available under this law.
Celebration of Women Power: Women’s Cell Convenor Dr. Swarn Lata Singh said in her address that this day is a celebration of the struggle and success of women power. Whereas ACBEO Ghanshyam Swarnkar and Principal Madhuri Gupta honored the winners by giving them medals and certificates. The guests emphasized that sports activities make girls confident and empowered.
