New Delhi, May 5 (). Chief Minister Rekha Gupta announced after the cabinet meeting on Tuesday that the Delhi government has approved a substantial increase in the salaries of vocational teachers and teachers working under the Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan.

The decision also applies to teachers working in special training centres, where children who have dropped out or never attended school are brought back into the education system.

Giving details, the Chief Minister said that about 1,131 vocational teachers in Delhi, who provide skill-based training in various subjects, will now get Rs 38,100 per month instead of Rs 20,000-23,000.

Similarly, under the Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan, the salary of teachers working in 784 centers has been increased from Rs 21,000 to Rs 35,420 per month. Chief Minister Gupta said that these centers focus on educating out-of-school children and preparing them for re-entry into mainstream education.

Chief Minister Gupta said that after the revised salary, teachers of Samagra Shiksha will now be able to get salary equal to primary and upper primary teachers.

He said this is not just a financial decision, but a recognition of the dedication and hard work of teachers who work in challenging circumstances to bring children within the scope of education.

He further said that this salary increase will not only strengthen the financial security of teachers but will also boost their morale. He said that motivated and satisfied teachers are the key to providing quality education.

Reiterating the government’s commitment, the Chief Minister said that our aim is to ensure that no child in Delhi is deprived of the education system.

He said the special training centers are a lifeline for children who have never gone to school or who have dropped out. Bringing them back into the mainstream is our top priority and the role of teachers is most important in this effort.

The Chief Minister also highlighted the ongoing efforts to improve the quality of these centers through regular monitoring, counseling of parents and better coordination between various departments.

He further said that our aim is not only to enroll children in schools, but also to motivate them to learn and secure their future.

He said that the Delhi government is committed to continuous improvement and innovation in education, and the salary hike is another step in this direction.
