Diplomatic efforts have intensified to end the ongoing conflict between Iran and Israel. In this series, an important meeting of foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Egypt has started in Pakistan’s capital Islamabad. Pakistan is hosting this meeting, which is being considered a major step towards restoring regional peace.
During the meeting, Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdellatty met Pakistan Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar. There was a detailed discussion between the two leaders regarding the regional situation, possibilities of ceasefire and further strategy. In addition, Ishaq Dar will also hold separate bilateral meetings with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan and Saudi Arabian Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan. In these meetings, the impact of the Iran-Israel war, the security situation of the Middle East and possible solutions will be discussed.
It is being told that all the foreign ministers will also meet Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif. During this, there is a possibility of discussion on the efforts and proposals being made by Pakistan to establish peace.
Pakistan is presenting itself as an important mediator in this entire matter. Even before this, Pakistan had offered to hold talks between America and Iran. Not only this, Pakistan has also handed over a 15-point proposal prepared by America to Iran, which is said to include ceasefire and measures to reduce tension.
Experts believe that such multilateral meetings can increase the chances of a diplomatic solution. However, the situation on the ground still remains extremely tense and the gap of distrust between the two sides is deep.
The impact of this ongoing conflict in the Middle East is also being seen at the global level. The concern of many countries has increased due to fluctuations in oil prices and danger on trade routes. In such a situation, this meeting being held in Islamabad is being considered very important not only for regional but also for global peace.
Now it has to be seen whether any concrete solution emerges from this initiative of Pakistan or whether this effort also remains limited like other diplomatic efforts.
