Garuda Purana is considered the most important of the eighteen Mahapurans. In the fifteenth chapter of Garuda Purana, some rules of getting children are given, which can lead to good character and honest child.
For the attainment of virtuous and fortunate children, the eighth and fourteenth day after menstruation is considered auspicious for sexual intercourse.
According to Garuda Purana, a woman should not have sexual intercourse during menstruation. During this time, the body of a woman is impure, due to which pregnancy is considered inauspicious.
For a child with good character and intellect, one should conceive only after seven days of menstruation.
According to the Garuda Purana, conception on all days gives a son, while conception in odd days gives a daughter.
The couple who wish to have a son should conceive on the eighth, tenth, twelfth, fourteenth and sixteenth of the woman’s menstruation ending.
At the time of pregnancy, the behavior of the husband and wife should be positive, as it has a positive effect on the child. In addition, mother’s conduct should be good for nine months. During this time, worshiping is considered auspicious, because it brings good values in the child.
After menstruation, the body of a woman remains weak for seven days, so during this time one should not try to conceive. Not doing so negatively affects the health of both mother and child.
Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday are considered auspicious days for conception. Ashtami, Dashami and Dwadashi are also considered auspicious.
According to Garuda Purana, Rohini, Mrigashira, Hasta, Chitra, Punarvasu, Pushya, Swati, Anuradha, Shravan, Dhanishta, Shatabhisha, Uttara Bhadrapada, Uttarashada and Uttarafalguni Nakshatra are considered auspicious for conception.
