Eid-ul-Fitr has special significance in the religion of Islam. After fasting for the entire month of Ramadan, people thank Allah for giving them courage and strength to worship. It is believed that fasting observed with true heart makes Allah happy and showers His mercy. This happiness and blessings are celebrated as Eid-ul-Fitr.
In the Muslim community, Eid-ul-Fitr is also called Eid and Meethi Eid. There is a custom of preparing many sweet dishes including Sheer Khurma, Sevaiyaan in this festival. For this reason, people also call Eid-ul-Fitr as Sweet Eid.
