A surprising case has come to light from Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, where the wisdom of an 8th class student saved the entire family from becoming victims of cyber fraud. This case is said to be related to the ‘Digital Arrest’ scam, in which the thugs tried to scare the family by pretending to be officers of the investigating agency.
According to the information, the cyber thugs contacted the family through phone calls and introduced themselves as officials of the government investigation agency. They tried to create mental pressure on the family by threatening to implicate them in some alleged case and tried to extort money.
Meanwhile, the 8th class student present in the house became suspicious of the conversation. He immediately understood the situation and alerted his parents. Due to being alert in time, the family did not share any kind of financial transactions or personal information, due to which a big loss was avoided.
After this incident, the discussion about awareness regarding cyber security has once again intensified at the local level. Experts say that in scams like ‘Digital Arrest’, fraudsters scare people and force them to take quick decisions, due to which they make mistakes.
Cyber Police has also appealed to the people not to immediately trust any unknown call or person claiming to be an officer and in any such situation, contact the local police or cyber helpline.
Overall, this case proved that awareness and vigilance can prevent major fraud at any age, and a little common sense can keep the entire family safe.
